The good:
---------------------
Last year, we had to clean laptops and I was like "I am really slow with it" and this other guy was like "I'll go slow with you".... so kind - whilst my hubby was going as fast as he can hahaha and I felt super slow.

The other day we went to the fish and ship shop and the nice lady that works there often with a nice smile put an extra battered fish for me for free which I didn't realise until I opened the takeaway box on my trip home!

Going to the Specsavers and realising that the name of the Optometrist who works there was from my primary school - not that I caught up with her yet as she only works there Sundays and Wednesdays but the lady who works there was happy to drag her out for me to say hello should I visit again.

Being given glasses to try on from someone else who has the same *common* surname as me as it magnified things unexpectedly... fun moment.

Being allowed to WFH on the upcoming CNY eve by a manager whom I had mixed feelings about and kinda controls my fate @ work I suppose.

Manager assuming that I'm doing reporting for a project which helped people a lot when it was just updating a spreadsheet and he knows I like to do reporting but I don't think he really knows too much about what reporting is so just puts that word in the sentence when talking to me.

Bumping into my parents at the shopping centre when buying our takeaway dinner

The good and not so good:
---------------------
An ex work colleague thought about me (haven't spoken to him really since I was made redundant in my last job) shared a job opportunity from his company with me (although I had to decline it as I felt it was way out of my league)

A cat was camping underneath my hubby's car that was friendly and not shy and 'meowed' back and kept walking around our legs although the downside was that it made it super difficult to get to work as it didn't want to let either me nor my hubby go and a lot of its fur got stuck on our work trousers... but then we can't afford to look after a cat and not sure if it is stray or hungry so just have to leave it alone moving forward. Saw it again again, the white cat with the yellow eyes just before leaving home to catch up with my family for dinner.

Not so good:
---------------------
Mum twisted her leg due to uneven dining floor at home

Dishwasher broke down

Tailbone

So tailbone is still sore after approximately 11.5 weeks grr.
Maybe I ate too much so the weight of the food / waste inside my body is having an impact on it.
It wasn't as bad yesterday evening.

I'm so tired of this. I just want to return to normal life again. I should be grateful it's just a dull pain every now and then around the tailbone area and not a sharp unbearable pain.
It can feel a bit stiff - like when trying to dry my feet today getting out of the shower.
Other times it has an itchy tingling kinda feeling.

I'm just getting impatient.
Maybe I will try get an x-ray if it doesn't heal by 4th June or something since 5th March was when it all started.

... On the positive side of things. At least the extreme sensation to hot and cold isn't giving me as sharp of a shooting, intense cavity-like kinda pain that hangs around for 30 seconds+.
I had this around 2 teeth after my gum got cleaned at the periodontist 2 Wednesdays ago. First day it was fine but I think it started 2nd day onwards.
I'm now brushing more gently around those 2 teeth with that issue and I think the pain is mostly gone around one tooth, but the other one still gets a hit every now and then.

Heard today that Aunt has recovered from Covid. That was fast!
She apparently had mild symptoms - bit of temperature and bit of cough and that's it.
Hence, my cousin can return home - or maybe he returned home already.

Done election today.

Bought takeaway for lunch from Cabra and did some grocery shopping as usual.

Last night was cold so had blocked nose after going to the bathroom and thought I was feeling a bit shortness of breath as a result but managed to clear some of the blocked nose, went back to sleep and when woke up all normal again.
Sam on the other hand sounded like he woke up and caught a cold with his runny nose but after a shower he seems a lot better this evening, although he still sounds like he got some sniffles.
Hopefully we won't have to postpone our belated Mother's day celebration tomorrow. Will see how he goes. Won't bother with a Covid test though cos none of his symptoms look like Covid to me.

Nothing much else to update really.

Election

Blah, I wasted 2 days working out who to vote for and in what order.
I was hoping I could just put one number for each paper and proceed, but then realised we had to fill in all the boxes in order of preference for the small paper, and then for the big paper have to either put 1-6 above the line or 1-12 below the line as a minimum.
I miss the days when I'd just rock up to election day and blindly vote just by the party name but I worry too much what life could be like if we vote for the wrong party, and still I might end up voting for the wrong one.
Ignorance is bliss.

As for other things:
My cousin had a brain surgery on Black Friday and all went OK and apparently his tremors went away. How amazing is that!

I learnt on Wednesday that my Aunt got Covid (She thinks she got it from the youngest of her grandkids when dining out - I think I heard he had Covid for 4 weeks so I'm not so sure about that).

Hence Uncle and Aunt managed to negotiate with the hospital to allow my cousin to stay in the hospital for a couple of days until my Aunt returns a negative Covid test just to keep my cousin safe.

Cleaned Chinese cabbage, cleaned oak leaf lettuce.
Minced 1kg of garlic with the help of a food processor.

After the housework I think I got tired and accidentally hit the back of my right arm against one part of the fridge. Now it's bruised and lumpy.

Also got an interesting read from spam mail in my letterbox today - some conspiracy against government in relation to Covid I think. Even though I hope not to believe most of it, whoever wrote it sure has a theatrical mind.
They seem to have done their homework and strong in their views.

Heard my Aunt's granddaughter had Covid.
I believe she studied Medicine so I wonder if she got it from her workplace which I assume might be a hospital setting of some sort.

So today we have a new NSW premier - Dominic Perrottet. I don't think I'm a huge fan of him.
I heard he was born? grew up? in West Pennant Hills.
He's only 1 year older than me - so young for a NSW premier.
He seems business/law/finance-oriented kinda person.
I'm scared cos he seems very driven towards what he wants from what I've read.
Like.. .he wanted less lockdowns and wanted to open up earlier and told Dr Kerry Chant that if she wanted to lock up the state then she should be paid less or something like that.

Hubby's back to work tomorrow!

Today was mostly a cooking / dishwashing / dish drying day, with a little bit of time for watching Hotel Del Luna and the latest episode of Masked Singer. Kebab was revealed today and it wasn't too much of a surprise as sis and I were both pretty sure that it was him once Jackie O guessed who he was.

Mainly talked to Sis-in-law today about cooking, food, Woolies bricks and Woolies mobile plan.

I cooked the yum cha style egg noodles with bean sprouts and green onions & broccoli with oyster sauce, and with hubby's help got the steamer going to steam 8 X siu mai's and air fry 4 X bean curd prawn rolls.

For dinner, I tried the pork chop recipe from Asian Grocer online but I didn't follow it well so it was super salty! I felt I did something wrong when I rubbed the pork with a bit too much salt forgetting how salty salt can be!

I made an online order for the Bread Maker today :)

I also played a bit of ROTMG (Realm of The Mad God) online.

Another non productive day (d'oh)...

Hubby will have to figure out his own lunch again tomorrow as I ran out of energy to cook lunch in advance.

Found out today from Dad that sis's car is OK and it just required a battery replacement.
Lucky for Dad he doesn't need to buy a new car for sis!

Arm's still sore, most itchiness has gone one week after 2nd Pfizer jab.

Hubby made bacon/egg sandwiches for our brunch and we microwaved leftovers for dinner.

Today wasn't overly constructive - I did do the laundry though and hung up the clothes. I submitted an order via eBay for some clips for our Westinghouse dishwasher. When the dishes get too heavy on the top rack, we waste so much time trying to adjust things within the dishwasher so that the spinny thing doesn't keep scrapping our cutlery container in the lower rack.
I also marinated the pork chops for tomorrow's dinner.
I also started window shopping - thinking about Christmas but didn't make much progress - I have an eye on a Breadmaker for fun though so might buy that for someone or for myself.

Last nite chatted a bit with my sis-in-law on Whatsapp & my cousin although the convo with my cousin didn't last long as she wanted my undivided attention it seems and 2 minutes delayed reply to a chat just doesn't cut it :P I guess she doesn't like to multitask and I don't mind trying to multitask again but I fail to do it well so she can pick up on it each time!

Dad also got a new mobile phone for Mum so he'll have fun transferring everything over for Mum to her new phone and then transferring ownership of her mobile phone plan and porting over from Kogan to Woolies mobile too on Tuesday.

Hubby & I watched a bit of "Hotel Del Luna" on Netflix - it was quite interesting except I wish it was a little more fast paced. A hotel with ghost residents :) Hubby recognised 2 actors in the Korean series - I only recognised the little boy as I'm so not good with face recognition of 'men'.
flylikethewind: (Default)
It's the long weekend, so it doesn't mean as much since I am unemployed but at least I can see my hubby enjoy his long weekend which is good.
It is one extra day, but one less hour of sleep for the working class people!

Hubby's feeling better today - I don't hear much runny nose/cough.
Maybe it was just a case of hayfever yesterday!

This morning we had another delivery from Asian Grocer.
This time the fresh bread rolls didn't run out of stock so hubby and I were elated!
He's been looking forward to those bread rolls as we haven't had any since lock down.

We made our own version of banh mi even though he wanted to eat it the simple way (ie. put the fried pork into the bread roll and done).
I insisted on preparing the coriander and pickled carrots and cucumber and air frying it.
First one I made was really enjoyable, and felt as good as the ones I get during Cabramatta days.
Second one somehow was too salty.

It's been a pretty lazy day apart from that as I had leftover noodles which we simply only had to microwave for dinner.
We also tried following the instructions to make the Hillway branded Bubble tea and it was quite nice apparently but hubby added double the water to make it less sweet.
I miss going to Crown Tea @ Cabramatta so this was as good as I could get until lockdown ends.

I watched "Travel Guides" yesterday and today, a bit of "The Hundred with Andy Lee" and looking forward to "The Masked Singer" tomorrow!

Gosh, shows, people, culture can all be so very entertaining!
There was a moment where the travel guides went to Cambodia to get a blessing at some temple I think and the guy giving them the blessing just kept drenching them with lots of water as blessings. They were soaked!!

Then I learnt from "The Hundred with Andy Lee" that some 40 odd % of people are willing to share masks with their partners during their pandemic in Australia - so loving. I think Sam's willing to share mine but I'm not willing to do the reverse as I'm just not as loving or saving perhaps!

Meanwhile, my left arm sore muscle is still tense and sore and mildly itchy time to time but I think it's slowly getting better.
I cut myself for the 4th time today with that red knife grr!

Anyway time for a shower soon.
Ciao for now.

I was quite sad to hear that our NSW premier, Gladys has resigned due to ICAC investigations.

I don't believe the media stalked her Jeep (exposing the car plate) all the way to the front door of her home and broadcasted it live. Isn't that an invasion of privacy?
She couldn't even get off her own vehicle at her own home in Northbridge and had to head back out onto the roads.

Anyway...

Covid arm is still itchy :/ I can't wait for the itch to go away. What a nuisance. Have to think positive!
It's definitely less of a side effect to what I have heard a friend's friend tell me about. She had friends who had sore lower back, paralysis in different parts of the body apparently, missing their period (not sure if that's necessarily a bad thing).

Hubby has been looking after me ever since that jab with looking after dinners for us. I'm going to cook dinner tonight even though arm's still weak and itchy.

Also... one of our cats (Blackie), whom found another home for years but sometimes visits, has been back to my parents' home on a more regular basis ever since this house in their neighbourhood got sold.
Unfortunately, we have another male cat (Milka) which has been very territorial and powerful since little who dislikes my family feeding Blackie as well.
Yesterday Milka fought Blackie and Milka won :/
Blackie is gentle and lovely and would not ever start a fight and he knows how to share.
So Blackie's more of a favourite at home even though Milka's so beautiful.
Mum doesn't like Milka - I don't blame her... but then what can you do.
Maybe they should get a cat cage and try to get him neutered to see if it makes any difference to his behaviour.... but he might be too old for any difference to be made.

Hubby also got runny nose all day today... hopefully it's hayfever and not a cold this time.
flylikethewind: (Default)
Dad told me today that sis's 15 year old-ish Toyota Corolla would not start anymore.
He tried to charge the battery but it ruined his charger in the process so he will probably need NRMA to check it out @ his home.

I'm guessing it's partially because she hasn't driven out much since the lockdown.

Family has started re-commencing their walks today since their 2nd jabs. The weather forecast indicated that there'd be no rain until evening, but it was wrong. They had to turn back and then it hailed.

Arm's still a little itchy and sore, but the lime-sized mildly pink-coloured / raised skin area is less pink than yesterday.
I have successfully managed to resist from scratching the area near the injection spot to-date :).
flylikethewind: (Default)
Sunday arvo had Pfizer 2nd jab.
Felt sore around injection point since the jab.
I don't think I relaxed fully before they did the injection.
Not an entire heavy left arm this time!
Felt easy - only a bit sore around the injection point and a bit of sore muscles around there!!
Had a lovely long shower without trouble!

On Monday - still felt relatively at ease.
Hence, went to clean cabbage - took me about 2 hours and 3 minor cuts (1 on my left hand and 2 on my right hand).
Monday night had Feverish Chills just before dinner. It was a cold night so I turned on heater.
Then I had steam boat (heater was on downstairs as well).
Then head felt heavy (not left/right sided... pretty much centralised near the front mid of my head).
Lied down and put on a blanket with heater but the heat just couldn't sink in.
Hence I went to have a nice long warm shower thinking it might help.
The heavy head went away and I ended up feeling a mild fever. Hands were warmer than usual, and face was feeling a bit warm. Surprisingly, my forehead wasn't really hot.
That said, I still wasn't feeling too comfy (but at least not too uncomfy given my forehead wasn't hot like I'd thought it would be).
Had water to try cool down in absence of panadol (only had expired panadol elixir at home + panamax capsules which I don't know how to swallow) and tried to sleep.
After few hours on and off of getting more water and bathroom trips, finally managed to sleep.

Tuesday woke up - no more fever to my relieve.
Felt like I was going to come up with a cold though - very tiny bit of phlegm, bit of runny nose.
Took it easy.
Arm was still feeling a bit sore around injection point (and feels bruised if touched it applying a tiny amount of pressure) and it also felt like something was pulling my muscle near my injection point. Left shoulder also felt a little sore.
Late Tuesday night - felt pretty good. Stayed up and watched Masked Singer episodes 1-5 whilst working on my resume like a snail.

Wednesday - discovered that I had 'covid arm' by the afternoon when I dared to look at it. The area around my injection point was from time to time itchy, and slightly pink round mark.
It was still feeling itchy, had a shower and tried to leave that arm alone by not getting it hit too hard by the shower water, though I gave it a mild warm / a mild cold shower here and there without applying bodywash this time.

Still quite itchy after shower.

Going to call it a night :)

Dad, Mum, Sis & I visited my aunt's 100 year old mother yesterday at Westmead hospital.
She has been at the hospital for the past 7 days or so - apparently due to heart failure. She has good eyesight and memory and recognised each of us and paused to compliment each of us except my father on how we all look prettier and then she paused as she decided someone is missing and we couldn't work out whom she was referring to... (she couldn't name that person) but we found out she was referring to my boyfriend when she said "where's the person from Cambodia".
Took us all by surprise that she thought of him.

She sneakily hidden away the oxygen mask under the blanket instead of leaving it on. It's OK though I think it's only there in case she needs it. Mum told her to put it closer to her in case she needs it.

She could still eat well, talk well, see well, and has good memory.
Apparently doctors? need to tell the patient's close family members if they suspect that their illness may be terminal .. and it seems like this may be the case and there has been a request for her grandson to visit her from Hong Kong.

I can never tell with patients whether they have a little to go or a long time to stay on earth. There was a short while where she weakened a bit as we gave her a card and I gave her some mini cupcakes. That was just before she made prayers - apparently for us. It really should have been the other way I suppose. My Chinese was so poor I didn't even realise she was praying for us.

I saw a shooting star tonight. The second one in my lifetime. Both times, my boyfriend was next to me but in both cases he didn't see them. The first shooting star I saw was after the Royal Easter Show 2+ years ago (can't remember when) when we were heading back to his home in Cabramatta with his sister and her (now) husband. Even then, no one saw it but me.
The one I saw tonight - I don't blame him for not seeing it, as he was in the driver's seat. This was just off Cumberland Highway and onto Carlingford.

It's been so cold lately. 5 degrees tonight. Brrr. I took a picture of the thermometer when it was 2 degrees the other night. I miss warm weather.

It's been busy lately but I'll update more eventually.

Hope everyone is doing well!

So .. we have offshore teams working in Bulgaria during Australian business hours.
They messaged me 'Good morning' and naturally I respond with 'Good morning' back to them.
Then I realised.. actually .. it's super early morning for them. Just after midnight their time when they messaged me.

Morning can be between midnight until noon. However, most people would not say 'good morning' to people after midnight but before waking hours of the morning.

Soooo next time I decided I will just say 'good dawn' to them.

Threw away 160 pens (that ran out of ink) today.
There were more that ran out of ink but they were pretty or too many memories attached so I saved a few.

Did tax return today. Seems like it has been simplified. So I'm happy.

The only flaw I encountered was the 'print or save' button when completing the website on firefox. My bf and I both had the same error and we couldn't go back to print/save it. Maybe there's a way but I can't be bothered to find out.

Spaghetti and chicken and pineapple fried rice and ice cream Sundae at Eastwood on Saturday with my bf makes a pig (me) happy!

Overplayed shop heroes on Facebook on Sunday till 3am trying to get the gold key award.
Will not do that again next Sunday!

I dreamt I got made redundant on Monday morning but for some reason my manager didn't know about it - and I kept the news away from my manager for 2 months and then told her about it a day or two before my last day at work. I didn't do as much of a handover as I should have I think - in my dream anyway. In reality though, manager will always know. Strange dreams.

Bought 3 sets of Winsor & Newton water colour 45 half pans today online - one for Mum, one for sis, one for Mum's friend (but my Mum's friend will pay for it).

Ooooh and I found out my dear friend in Canada got married! I'm happy for her :) Lucky him. I'm blessed to have met such a lovely friend even though with distance means harder to keep in touch. I tend to visit her every 5 years or so overseas! Last time was in Hong Kong, and I got close to meeting up with her last year but only got to her front door (she wasn't home).

Yesterday felt kinda warm for Autumn.

Dad and Mum actually went for a swim. Yes, the pool is heated but it was outdoors and I was still in long sleeves and shorts so it wasn't *that* warm.
Mum said the water was cold and she asked me to call Dad to get out of the pool when it was starting to get dark but I was too lazy. (Apparently he wouldn't listen to her but he'd listen to me). He was coughing afterwards but I think he has recovered today.

As for Dad, I think his reason for going into the pool was because my parents are arranging someone to build a pool enclosure for our pool and Dad wanted to install some swimming pool light before the constructions start to take place.

Today's much colder!
They both declined to swim today :)
I'm glad they are still sane to some extent.

puzzled.

Do people really work 14 hour days? I did 11.x and I'm tired already. (although more planned tonight).

I wonder if they meant 14 hours every day, or whether that includes Saturdays and Sundays to make up for the 14 hours average.... or did they mean once in a while they work 14 hours a day?

In the past week I had 2 people come up to tell me that they were doing 14 hour days before they got made redundant (well one of them used to but stopped end of last year).
flylikethewind: (Default)
Just discovered it on youtube.. yippee :D

Some wins... after yet another busy day at work.
Work incoming is always greater than Work outgoing. *Sigh*
And backlog just builds day by day.

Our family has no sense of time. 3 out of 4 of us are still awake at 3:51am.

Ironically ... I have a webpage "The Science Of Good Sleep" opened on my other web browser window.
