If rainbows are .. red on the top and violet at the bottom (except in the case of the 2nd arc of a double rainbow where the colours are reversed)...
Why is it that both Sis & I thought that we were taught in science that it was the other way around?
At least .. from memory - when I was in primary I always thought rainbows were red at the top. That's how I would have coloured them in colouring competitions,
But then since high school science, I've had the idea that I got it wrong for my lifetime and that red was at the bottom and violet at the top. Crazy huh? My sis remembered it the same way I did.
Even Dad who usually remembers his high school stuff better than either of us thought red was at the bottom!
Yet when I went to google I couldn't find a reason for why we thought the way we did. I thought it may have something to do with crystal prisms and light shining into it and rainbow coming out the other end or......wavelengths?
Oh well.. Never mind. If I ever bother to dig out my science notes, I'll find out whether I just remembered incorrectly or whether there was more to it. I even remember drawing rainbows in reverse colour order cos I had the idea in my head that I got it wrong for my entire lifetime.. (Ie. red at the bottom)
